Material philosophy

Designed for use. At VACVAC studio, we primarily work under the fundamental premise that we design for use. It may sound banal, but there is currently increasing focus on designing for recycling - including by avoiding mixed materials. However, the fact remains that very little clothing is actually recycled into new, so instead, we prioritize designing based on function and durability.

Good quality is the right choice

  • Good children's clothing requires a little extra when it comes to freedom of movement, and at the same time, it inevitably gets washed a bit more frequently - and frequent washing can unfortunately lead to a particular dryness, especially in cotton fabrics, which is neither comfortable nor flattering. Therefore, you may notice that some of our GOTS-certified Better Basic styles are infused with a little elastane to give them the right properties. Our thesis is that luxurious clothing that maintains softness, colorfastness, and shape over time is well-equipped for a long lifespan.

    Our materials fall broadly into two categories, GOTS-certified organic and genuine deadstock, and what they have in common is that they are tested thoroughly before production. If you have questions about our materials, you are always welcome to contact us at info@vacvac.dk.

  • Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) GOTS is the leading international standard for organic textiles, and it sets a wide range of requirements for everything from fiber traceability and content, waste minimization, chemical use, and wastewater management to textile durability and the social working conditions throughout the product's value chain - all the way from the fiber in the field to the finished garment. In this way, it is a holistic certification, where we as a brand also have to be able to demonstrate that we work according to the requirements. We are certified by IDFL with license number IDFL015710

  • When we choose to become GOTS-certified, it's based on the certification's focus on both people and the environment. As a children's clothing brand, we find great reassurance in knowing that our products are tested according to strict chemical requirements, ensuring that your child's health is also at the forefront.

    Under GOTS, there are two "grades", the first being "Organic", which requires the finished product to contain 95-100% organic fibers, while "made with Organic" demands that a minimum of 70-95% of the textile consists of organic fibers. Both allow us to work with the functionality of the clothing without compromising on responsibility - and neither permits the blending of conventional cotton fibers.
